A Glimmer of Hope

I received an email from Google Thursday, and he said that he was looking into my UnFriended status!  I am trying not to get too excited, and this doesn’t mean we will become Friends again, but after being so bummed out for the last 10 days, this comes as a ray of hope.

Google’s email came as a result of some urging from people on his Help Forum, and I really have them to thank.  Jeff from Google Closes Gay Blogs urged me last week to post something in the forum, and to not give up.  He has also monitored my post thread and provided lots of moral support.  A couple of days ago, Jeff added a message to my thread urging some of the senior people there to at least respond so I am not just left out in the cold.  And sure enough, a while later, one of the senior guys on the forum replied to my post and said he would bring my situation up with Google.  Many thanks to both, but especially to Jeff.

The senior guys on the forum are a real interesting group.  They don’t work for Google, but they are a conduit and liaison between the forum and Google’s staff.  As you can imagine, there are a lot of very upset people on the forum, and these senior guys try to help them out.  Often they become the target of people’s anger and frustrations, which they don’t deserve to be, but some people get really angry when they get UnFriended… I understand how they feel.

I don’t know how many senior guys are on there, but I learned that in order to get them to help, you need to prove that you are not some flake or just a hysterically bitter ex-Friend.  In order to prove that, you need to follow their 4 Steps and advise that you have done so.  I guess maybe it shows that you really do want to become Friends again?

Anyway, as upset as I have been about being UnFriended, I have really tried to appear calm and reasonable on my posts and replies on the forum, and having gone through hundreds of threads on there, I am certain that leaving anger out is very helpful.

I don’t know what the outcome will be, but I know I have to remain patient, and my fingers are crossed.  I don’t know the senior guy that elevated my case to Google, but KeithR, if you should ever come across this post… many thanks and a big hug :)

My biggest hug though is for Jeff, who came to my rescue, and inspired me not to go down without a fight – thanks Jeff xo :)

A side note… Dee’s blog The Beauty Hunter was re-opened today by Google!!  I know how upset Dee was that it was closed, and he has been so frustrated with how long it has taken, but he remained vigilant and did not give up.  Good on you Dee!!

  1. Thanks Steve, Lets just hope it can stay open. I get a bit nervous reading on Jeff & Brent's blog when finding on their deleted lists where it says "Blog Closed Again."

Just found your e-mail so I'll start on a reply.

    Thanks. Dee.

  2. I am pretty sure they mean that the blog was reopened under a new account and then closed again. I think now that your blog has been given Goog's Stamp of Approval, you have nothing to worry about :)
